Albert Stephenson Horn

July 12, 1944 – January 1, 2024

Steve Horn, 79 of Vero Beach, FL passed away January 1, 2024. He’s gone before us to his eternal home to be with his Lord Savior as well as his loved ones who have passed before him. Steve was diagnosed with cancer in April 2023. After losing his only child, Stephanie in November 2023, his diagnosis only seemed to decline and worsen as the days passed by. He was most recently hospitalized due to his condition and gained enough strength to go to rehabilitation and back home.

Steve was born in Creedmoor, NC July 12, 1944 to the late John and Lillian Horn of Creedmoor, NC. He and his wife, Sheryl Cox Horn have been residents of Vero Beach for two and a half years before relocating from Carolina Beach, NC, where they lived for 30 years. Steve graduated from South Granville High School in 1962.

Following retirement from the United States Coast Guard in 1989, Steve was an officer with Veterans Affairs.  After his service, he relocated to Charlotte, NC and was employed with Bell South Telephone Company.

Steve was a wonderful husband to Sheryl, the best father, grandfather, son, and friend to many. He was a passionate fisherman and loved the outdoors. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his great story telling.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl Cox Horn, of Carolina Beach, NC and a grandson, Brent Murray, of Raleigh, NC. He is proceeded in death by his parents, John and Lillian Horn, of Creedmoor, NC and his daughter, Stephanie Renee Horn, of Vero Beach, FL.

Steve Horn was a dear friend to many! We will always remember Steve fondly for his fun & laughter, telling humorous jokes! He always enjoyed calling Sheryl, Ann & Carolyn the Raleigh Road whores as we traveled to Emerald Isle many weekends to Sheryl’s , mobile home, The Fun Dump & later to Carolina Beach to stay with Steve & Sheryl at their condo! Steve & Sheryl both always had open arms & open doors for all! We traveled to Hawaii , back and forth to Florida & finally moving to Vero Beach! We enjoyed partying & playing Dominoes, Uno & Rummique! Life was never the same after I lost my Daughter, Amy, in 2021 Ann lost her Son in 2022 & Stephanie was diagnosed with cancer in 2022, the Steve with cancer in 2023! We continue to pray for Sheryl, Brent & their family & friends! May God’s love surround them with Comfort, Serenity & Peace! Love & Prayers, Cliff & Carolyn

Steve and Sheryl were two of the very first people my husband and I met after our move to Vero Beach. God puts people in your life for a reason. They welcomed us with open arms and treated us like family. I will never forget their kindness toward us. Fly high with the angels Steve. God bless

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
