Stephen J. Rek, Jr., 86, formerly of Manahawkin, NJ, passed away November 11, 2022 in Vero Beach, Florida.
He was born October 20, 1936, in Newark, NJ to the late Stephen and Hedwig Kuracik Rek.
Mr. Rek was a veteran of the United States Army, having served stateside during the Vietnam War. He began working with New Jersey Bell at a young age and retired after 30 years of service. Following retirement, Stephen and his wife Claire became winter residents of Florida and in 2019, they made Vero Beach their permanent home.
Mr. Rek was an avid boater and loved spending time on the water. Although he was not a current parish member, he continued to follow the Catholic Faith.
He leaves his memories to be cherished by his wife of 60 years, Claire Smith Rek; son, Stephen J. Rek III and his wife, Heather Fleming Rek; son-in-law, Deedim Vladimirov; grandchildren, Stephen D. Rek, and Brittany Rek, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and his beloved Jellybean.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Nicole Vladimirov and sisters, Hedy Ott and Ethel Kulbaba.
