Stephanie Ramey, 64, of Vero Beach passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
She was born April 26, 1958 in Titusville, Florida to Steve and Judith (nee Miller) McGrath.
She had been a resident of Sebastian for the last 16 years coming from Savannah, Georgia.
Stephanie served in the United States Air Force as a Payroll Specialist and retired after 28 years. She served in the 183rd Tactical Fighter Group, Air National Guard Bureau at the Pentagon and the 165th Tactical Airlift Wing.
In her younger years Stephanie performed as a trick horse rider in the “Harold Henson’s Wild West Show.” Her outgoing personality and geniality meant that she never met a stranger. This was a trait that came in useful as she traveled the globe. She was an avid photographer who also enjoyed drawing and painting. Her passion was fishing. Whether it be off the bank, on the beach or trolling behind a boat Stephanie loved it all.
Survivors include her brother, Keith Preston Ramey of Springfield, Illinois and nephew, Cameron Paul Ramey of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Stephanie will be inurned at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. The 183rd will be holding a celebration of life at a later date.

Sorry I am so late with my thoughts. I first met Stephie when she was 2, at her grandma’s house. I was 7. I saw her off and on over the years, when she lived in Clinton with her step-father (my father) and her mom, and eventually her brother. I remember when she first got a horse and learned to trick-ride. She loved horses. I don’t recall her liking fishing, but she loved to swim, and became darn good at it (like everything else she did).
And Stephie, if you are reading this, I was always so happy that you were happy I complimented your cooking when nobody else did. Thank you for having your spirit inside me now and always.
Love always,
Richie

I have so many amazing memories with you. You were the first female that befriended me at the 183rd and despite how different we were from one another we remained friends for many years. I learned a lot about life from you Steph. The world lost a unique, beautiful, hippie chick when you left us. Tight lines in heaven my sweet friend. I love you!

Sadly word is just spreading through the 165th Airlift Wing community in Savannah that we’ve lost Stephanie. So very sad. Stephanie was loved and adored by many. Our hearts go out to her brother and extended family. She was a lovely person with a big heart. On behalf of the 165th Airlift Wing and Georgia Air National Guard we bid Godspeed. Rest peacefully old friend and colleague.
