I knew him as uncle Mike. We were not related, just close family friends. He and my father were inseparable and always helped each other on projects. One of the best jobs I ever did in my construction career was helping build a bathroom in uncle Mike’s Blue Ridge cabin. I was young and didn’t know much but I was happy to do the grunt work just to be a part of the project and camaraderie. I will miss him dearly. He taught me how to deal with smart mouth kids as I definitely was one. He was a one of a kind. A helluva gourmet and generous soul. Peace to the family and friends during this time. We will never forget him.
