Michael A. Schroeder, age 75, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at Cleveland Clinic on January 7, 2024 after enduring several months of illness.
Michael, born in Fort Knox, Kentucky on March 21, 1948 to Col. Leonard Treherne Schroeder and Margaret Nicholson Schroeder, possessed a lifelong love for geography, other cultures, and international travel. As the child of an army officer, he lived in Japan, England, Turkey, Greece, and Uruguay with his family from an early age.
Michael completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Kentucky, Lexington, as a member of Pi Kappa Alpha and was a devoted fan of Wildcats Basketball. Michael proudly served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Vietnam War after which Michael completed his law degree at The University of Florida. He began practicing law in 1975 then met and married the love of his life, Leslie Cashman in 1982, and founded his firm in 1983 in Boca Raton. Passionate about his work, Michael, alongside his FRP Judy Jocis, represented lenders, buyers, corporate clients, sellers, and developers primarily in commercial real estate, successfully closing thousands of deals over his 47 year career. Many clients became lifelong friends.
Michael is best known for his dry, Southern wit and immeasurable generosity. A lover of travel and classic rock, especially The Rolling Stones, Michael instilled the same passion for music and adventure in his children. A favorite trip was with his best friend, Tom Blair, to South America to hike and climb glaciers, while treasured memories with his family include many summers in Vermont and trips to Western and Southeastern Europe, Great Britain, and South America. Michael was always climbing new heights both personally and professionally.
Michael is survived by his wife, Leslie; his son, Max Schroeder of Boca Raton, FL; daughter, Alexandra DeMello (Nick) of Nashville, TN; grandchildren: Isabella Schroeder, Violet and Forest DeMello; sister, Jane Schroeder of Largo, FL; as well as many beloved extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leonard Schroeder.

My Deepest Sympathies Leslie, Max, Alex and Families.
It is with great sorrow that my dear long-time friend, golf partner and business partner has passed on to a better place. It has been said that with great sorrow, there is also a sense of unbelievable gratefulness of a loved one’s passing. “Schroeder’s” passing on to God’s heaven applies to me as one of full appreciation, gratefulness and love to have met him and his family. I am so happy that my dear friend and I crossed paths many years ago and became brothers as well as people who “live to enjoy” the ones we love and the world in which we live. Schroeder has taught me so much about life, business and the great importance to live our lives like we will no longer have another day to enjoy those around us…and to let them know how much we care about them. Michael has passed on but he never truly “leaves” us. He will ALWAYS be with us all. I cherish my friendship with Michael and the memories we both will always share in this life and our next. God Bless “Schroe”, we will see each other and have as much fun as we have always had – in our next meeting in Heaven sometime ahead. Until then, “Keep Rockin’”. Hugs and High Fives,
CJ and Gail Lamarca

Mike was a class act. He was the only lawyer I have ever met or dealt with who would prefer to write a sensible, concise, intelligent memo in review of a document rather than sit on a phone and talk. I along with all my associates at Barron Real Estate miss him greatly.
His was a very intelligent man and a good soul who would go out of his way to help all in any way he could.
