Mary Ann Royan

Sebastian, FL – Mary Ann (Olsav) Royan, 92, of Sebastian, FL passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 31, 2024.

Born in Freeland, PA, she was the daughter of John M. Olsav, Sr. and Cecelia (Kopczynski) Olsav. During Mary’s early years she worked as a Bell Atlantic operator in Wilmington, DE. It wasn’t long thereafter that she met the love of her life, William J. Royan, Jr. (Bunky) at a New Year’s Eve party. Mary then became an Air Force military wife where she and Bunky traveled and were based at Dover AFB, DE ; Elmendorf AFB, Anchorage, AK; White Horse, CANADA; Myrtle Beach AFB, SC; Pease AFB, NH; and finally settling in Newburyport, MA with their family. Mary then worked in the health industry as a Home Health Aide for many years before moving to Sebastian, FL in 2010.

Mary was an active member of the St. Sebastian Catholic Church community, where she enjoyed Bible classes, being a member of the Women’s Guild, volunteering at the church Gift Shop and Flea Market, and the local Food Bank, as well as being a member of the Red Hats Society. Some of Mary’s many interests were baking, reading, puzzles,  crocheting and gardening.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William J. Royan, Jr., her parents John and Cecelia Olsav, her three brothers John, Jr., Joseph, and Bernard Olsav, and her sister Wanda Gillespie.

Mary is survived by her son Douglas Royan of Osterville, MA and her daughter Darlene Tyndall (Alan) of Hillsborough, NC; three granddaughters, Ashleigh Munoz (Alberto), Alexis Eaton (David), and Alise Tyndall; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws Barbara Olsav and Mary Joan Olsav; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
