Martin Jacobs

August 24, 1963 ~ April 23, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Martin Jacobs, known as “Marty” announces his passing on April 23rd, 2020, at the age of 56. A native of St. Louis, Marty had a successful career in the restaurant industry, which offered him the opportunity to live in different areas of the country. Later, he ran his own business and moved to Florida. Marty enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing pool, and spending time with family and friends. Marty had an endearing personality, and was certainly someone who never met a stranger.

He is survived by his life-partner Gwendolyn Williams, sons Martin, Josh, Tristan, and Talon, daughter Alex, their mother Pamela Davis, his mother Patricia Jiminez, sisters Anita and Jean, brothers Michael and Jason, and his nephew and nieces. Marty was predeceased by his father Martin Theodore Jacobs, and brother Eric Daniel Steffen.

Marty, we miss you so, so much. You were a gentle ‘giant’, you & I had so many great, nice and funny conversations. Michael is taking this very hard. Ian, well, you are his first ‘family’ to pass and he hurts so much, especially for Alex and Gwen. He is trying to understand, why. Joshua is in shock, he was looking forward to seeing you and being there with a positive outlook. We are there for Gwen and Alex. I drive by your house twice a day, to work and on the way home, just to make sure everything is ok. Love you with all our hearts. It physically hurts, life will not be the same without you, sir.

I knew Marty and Michele way back when—Marty and I worked together as servers at Cucos Mexican Restaurant in Jacksonville FL and then were both promoted into management around the same time. Marty was my closest friend for a few years during that time, and I spent a lot of time with him and Michele, and was around when Jake was born (not sure if he still goes by that name).
We lost touch sometime around early 90s when they moved away from Jax, and the Internet was not yet a thing. Over the years, after the Internet became a thing, I did some searches for Marty and Michele now and then, wondering where they had landed. I tried to make contact a couple times but was never successful.
Now I did a Google search a few days ago and found this obituary. I’m so sorry to his kids for their loss. Marty was a great guy and a great friend, and Michele as well.
If any of his kids end up reading this, or their mom, I just want to say that he was memorable, and was a good friend.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
