Gary Arthur Roehl

November 05, 1941 ~ April 10, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Arthur Roehl on April 10, 2025 in Satellite Beach Florida.

He was born on November 5, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Jean and Arthur Roehl.

Gary worked for Coastal Company (formally known as Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline Company and ANR) from December 13, 1969 to February 28 of 2000. He was the second longest serving employee. He started out in the mailroom at 18 years old, then he was promoted to the safety department, as a safety engineer where he taught how to extinguish gas line fires, defensive driving, CPR, first aid. He also worked in the personnel department, where he was active and served with MESRA, involved with downtown Detroit community functions including working with the parade, marathon runs, Detroit Symphony, and functions with Emily’s in Detroit.   He completed his career as a Hearing Conservation Specialist and loved traveling the country testing hearing at the company’s oil sites, including flying by helicopter to his favorite offshore oil rigs.  He loved the travel and the generous hospitality of friends he met along the way.

Gary enjoyed his retirement years in his Satellite Beach oceanfront condo. He loved hosting guests and sharing a good meal with family and friends. He spent time watching anything sports related on TV.  He rarely missed a Jeopardy episode and likely could have been a winning contestant as he always seemed to have the correct answers.  He loved sitting on his balcony smoking a cigar while gazing endlessly at the ocean, and listening to the radio. It made him so proud to be able to provide a place that his family could enjoy the beach. He was a great listener and a very supportive father. He possessed a quiet grace and was liked by many.

Survivors include his daughters, Barbara (Christopher) Rospierski and Donna (Tim) Luke; sons, Tom Roehl and Christian Roehl; grandchildren, Riley and Sterling Luke, Westley and Nicholas Roehl. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Arthur Roehl; sister, Linda Garavaglia and brother-in-law, Mike Garavaglia; and ex-wife, Judith Heiney.

Dad was especially grateful to Tom for his many years of loving care.

The family will celebrate Gary’s life privately at a later date.

Gary was a great Associate of mine. We worked together for many years while he traveled the country making sure that the ANR/Coastal employees were tested and advised on their possible hearing loss. Gary stressed to our employees the need to protect their hearing through the use of hearing protection. Gary trained employees on the proper use of hearing protection and when the protection was needed and required. I enjoyed working with Gary. Gary was always someone who took his responsibilities seriously. I never doubted his work performance. Gary is a very good friend who always opened his Florida home to my family. I have so many found memories of Gary. Gary never once missed calling me on my birthday every year including the 25 years of his retirement. He will be missed greatly on this earth but will always be in my thoughts and in my heart.

To my nieces and nephews I am so sorry for your loss. I especially have such fun memories of your dad at the cottage where we would all come together for weekends at the lake at grandma and grandpas cottage.
The last time I saw him was a couple of years ago at the condo at Satellite Beach, where Chris was visiting at the same time. Gary took us all to dinner at one of his favorite restaurants. It was like old times. So happy we were able to be together again. God bless him, rest in peace dear Gary. May the good lord give you all His peace. Love you all!! ❤️❤️ Aunt Sue

My condolences to the family.

I met Gary at ANR Pipleline Co. I was hired into Safety Dept. We became fast friends and remain friends throughout his career at ANR. The stories he would tell when he came home from being in the field would keep me laughing for days.
I have many, many fond memories that I will cherish.
Rest in Peace, my dear Friend

Gary was like my big brother on the road…and he really knew his stuff on the road….We would get in that Van and he’d put in a tape and Play “On the Road Again” and off we go to all the different Stations on the pipeline to teach CPR and several different programs …Gary was a Great Boss, teacher and best of all …A GREAT FRIEND!!! I’m so sorry to hear about Uncle Gary’s passing. My memories of him are at the lake or in the boat. And he always had a smile. I
Any week in Summer you’d hear the radio airing the Tigers game. Fading in and out. All the grown ups slathering on the oil and the mirrored “satellite ” panels on their faces. That’s how I remember Uncle Gary. Those were the best times. Rest in peace Uncle Gary.

Gary was a second cousin of mine. My grandmother (Toni) and Gary’s father (Uncle Art) were siblings.
Most of my memories are from when we were children and everyone spent a great deal of time at grandma Roehls.
I remember Gary’s marriage to Judy and the births of
all of you (their children). The last time a saw any of you would have been at your Aunt Linda’s funeral.
I pray that you will all find peace and strength through the Lord and each other.

My sincerest sympathy and love,
Cheryl Chalou

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
