My sympathy to the family and friends of Eddie Makowski.
Although I have not been in contact with Eddie for several years, I remember meeting Eddie when he was a teenager in Haverstraw, NY. He joined the Marines and was so proud to wear the uniform. His brother Hank and I stopped to visit him at his Base one day on our way to NY, but he had gone to the beach. His last letter to us said he got a crew cut and a tattoo. So we walked along the beach looking for a young man with a crew cut and tattoo. Well, all the young recruits in swim shorts had both. We laughed and were glad Eddie recognized us first. We enjoyed the rest of the day with him. When he served in Hawaii, he sent me a beautiful floral Muumuu which I was pleased to wear especially at Hawaiian events for many years.
His passing will be a loss to all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Gloria Makowski (former sister-in-law)
