Donnie Ray Wynn, 81, of Vero Beach passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital.
Donnie Ray was born January 9, 1941 in Jasper, Florida to Jody and Netty (nee Fennell) Wynn. He grew up in a commercial fishing family and learned the value of hard work at a young age. Later in life he had his own landscaping business. It is said that if you love what you do you will never work a day in your life. Donnie Ray enjoyed the outdoors so much that even when he wasn’t tending to someone else’s yard and plants he kept busy making his own yard look amazing. Of all the plants Donnie Ray planted and kept it was roses that were his lifelong favorite.
He was a devoted member of the Sebastian Church of God in Sebastian, Florida. He loved his Lord, his church, and his family. Donnie also loved to laugh. Rumor has it that once you got him started that it was nearly impossible to get Donnie Ray to stop laughing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Carolyn Wynn; daughter, Tiny Ann; his parents and 18 brothers and sisters.
Donnie Ray is survived by his children, Michael Wynn of Vero Beach; Donnie (Kathy) Wynn of Odenville, Alabama; Margo Wynn of Vero Beach; Shelly Calvert of Indianapolis, Indiana and Wynn (Wade) Turner; grandchildren, John (Gabby) Thornell; Amy (Casey) Thornell; Jack Thornell; Christopher Wynn; Jesse Wynn; Christy (Erick) Prado; Jessica Wynn-Kentorri; Victoria and Ashley; sisters, Bonnie McGowan of Vero Beach and Ester (Walley) Sowell of Altoona, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews.

I’ll miss my pops so much . The hardest part of this is knowing you was my last grandparent alive and I just seen you a few months ago. I miss when I was little and you used to walk us over to the dollar general every day to get us junk food and coloring books lol I miss the way you used to make your noodles and never forget the butter bread with it. I miss seeing you put your tongue in your nose and your laugh pops. Lol
You really was my hero pops. I’ll cherish and remember you until the day I die pops. I’ll always always love you. Go be with grandma pops and kiss and hug her for me. I love you ❤️

My dad was the sweetest man I have ever met, People from his generation didn’t have many advantages but he worked hard and took care of all his family. We talked on the phone all the time and I can’t stop expecting his voice on the other end of the line. Happy Birthday to the worlds greatest dad, I love you and miss you so much. Please be happy and at peace. If you see mom, say Hi, and tell her I love her and miss her too. Continue to watch over us like you always have. I love you so much.
