David A. Curran

David A. Curran, 78, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away at Cleveland Clinic, Indian River Hospital. He was born in Hazleton, PA to Archie and Agnes (nee Plisko) Curran and grew up in Clark, New Jersey. He graduated from Arthur L. Johnson Regional High School in Clark in 1964.

He married Sandy Harris Curran, the love of his life, in 1970 and they were together for 54 years. He leaves behind his brothers, Timothy and Donald; two sisters, Anne Curran Mateyak and Mary Beth Curran; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Archie Curran.

David began his career with Supermarkets General Corporation (a/k/a C&S Wholesale Grocers) in the 1980’s in their grocery distribution warehouse in Woodbridge, NJ as a Union employee and then advanced to management, overseeing the daily operations of their employee cafeteria. He retired in 2008, after more than 32 years in grocery distribution, as Acting Operations Manager of C&S’s huge distribution center warehouse in NJ, overseeing, training and managing more than 140 Union employees. He was well known for his respect and fairness in his leadership qualities.

After relocating from New Jersey/PA to Vero Beach, Florida later in retirement, he joined the Moose Lodge Family Center in Vero Beach, bringing with him his love for cooking to volunteering his services preparing meals for its membership twice a week over several years. He cherished the many friendships he made there.

Among his hobbies of hunting and fishing, he was a life-long dedicated fan of the New York Yankees. He loved attending and following their Minor League Baseball Class AAA Railriders Scranton-Willks-Barre Franchise in Moosic, PA each summer. He took great pride in seeing their team players rise from their minor league standing to becoming full fledge Yankees in the MLB.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
