Ronald Everest Yeaw, 77, died on June 21, 2021.
The only child of Arthur S. and Grace E. Yeaw, Ron was born and raised in Media, PA. Following graduation from Penncrest High School, Grove City College, US Navy Officer’s Candidate School, and Underwater Demolition Team (UDT)/SEAL training, Ron spent 30 years in the UDT/SEAL community. Captain Yeaw retired in 1995 after having served 3 combat tours in Vietnam with the SEALs and having served as the Commanding Officer of an Underwater Demolition Team and SEAL Team SIX. During his career, he was awarded a total of 45 medals and ribbons, including 9 medals with the combat V (indicating valor in combat) including 4 bronze stars, and the Purple Heart. He received a Master of Arts Degree from the Navy Postgraduate School, attended the Navy War College, and was president of the 1993 class of the National War College. Following his Navy career, he served 6 years in such positions as Program Manager, Director of the Marketing Department, and Division Vice President with the Research Planning Inc. professional services firm in Falls Church, VA. Following his relocation to Florida, he served 14 years with the Wackenhut/G4S Professional Armed Security Corporation.
Survivors include his wife Shelley A. Shipe and his twin children Ron Jr. and Donna.
A memorial service will be scheduled at the Middletown Presbyterian Church in Media where his father was an elder. Burial will take place immediately following at the family plot at the church.

I am saddened to see that Ron Yeaw has passed. It was my honor to serve with him at JSOC and I chose him to pin on my Navy/MC jump wings, a highlight of my career. Fair winds and following seas, and my heartfelt condolences to the family.

I can remember reporting to UDT21 as a freshly minted Ensign, straight out of BUD/S and jump school. As another UDT 21 junior officer said, going into the skipper’s office tended to put us in a state of awe. He was an operator’s operator, and a loved and respected CO. It was an honor to serve with him. Fair winds and following seas shipmate. You were an example to us all.
