Armand John Poulin, affectionately known as “AJ”, of Sebastian, Florida was called home March 22, 2023.
He was born May 10, 1935 in Windsor, Canada to Flossie Sawyer and Joseph Ernest Poulin. Growing up, AJ was well known on the football field and performing on the stage for drama. After high school he attended Assumption University and The Detroit Institute of Technology. AJ held positions in Canada with Ford Motor Company as well as his beloved older brother Don’s business, where they worked together until Don’s unexpected passing. He went on to enjoy a successful career traveling the Midwest in electronic sales with Fairchild, Signetics, and Sprague, developing many lasting friendships along the way.
Close friends introduced AJ and Sharon in 1980. They quickly became inseparable, marrying on July 16, 1982, settling together in Northville, MI.
AJ and Sharon found inspiration through the same dear friends that introduced them, and relocated to Florida in 1992. They immersed themselves in their small, friendly community of Sebastian, active in work and volunteering in their church. While many new friendships were made, they continued to cherish longtime friends, staying in touch with calls and visits over the many years.
In Florida, AJ rekindled his love for golf by spending more time on the course and taking up a second ‘career’ at Grand Harbor Golf Club as Starter and Ranger. Later in retirement, AJ discovered his interest in writing, successfully completing and publishing two books. AJ also had a longstanding passion for World War II history and airplanes.
AJ was known as a kind, loving, gentle man who didn’t know a stranger. He always had a smile and a laugh, often lighting up the room with his humor. He had great love for his family and friends, showing it in countless ways over the years. AJ was truly adored by all that knew him and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife Sharon; children Father Mark Poulin of Windsor, Ontario, Kathy (Leo) Viselli of Windsor, Ontario, Shelley Poulin of Airdrie, Alberta; stepchildren Scott (Chris) Bulin of Monroe, MI, Kendra (Christopher) Koth of New Hudson, MI, Kerry (John) Berry of Sacramento, CA; 5 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Ernie and Flossie, his only sibling, Don, sister-in-law Gloria Poulin.

AJ was a client of mine when I was working in insurance. He often crossed my mind through the years and I fondly remembered his kindness and humor, he was truly a gentle soul.

Anne Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, May 30th at 7:00 pm. This mass will be celebrated by Armand’s son, Fr. Mark Poulin.

My mind has wandered may times over the years to memories I have of AJ some of my favorites are the pranks he and Scott would play on each other. Whenever I’d stop by AJ would always strike up a conversation, my heartfelt condolences to all friends and family.

AJ was an amazing man who always brought a smile and a laugh to our lips and warmed our hearts. We are grateful to have known him; I am grateful to have had him as a boss during a couple of my summers in college working at Signetics. Sharon I’m so glad you called to tell me of AJs passing. It’s nice to think of AJ and Dad having a reunion and discussing all the world’s problems again. AJ was Dad’s best friend and confidant. Mom and Dad really loved having you both as neighbors while they lived at River Run. Thank you both for being such good friends and neighbors to them both. I always enjoyed seeing you both when I visited mom and dad there. AJ was a very special man.
