David Paul McLaughlin, dearly beloved, was called home by his Heavenly Father on February 23, 2023.

David was beautiful and special. He was hilarious and told stories you could be absolutely certain were at least partially true. He loved fast cars, loud music, wild adventures, fun people, good food, and pretty ladies – not necessarily in that order.

His deep faith and love for God was evident in his ability to minister to others even when his own struggles were overtaking him. He sometimes spoke of being a pastor one day, a fitting calling for someone who connected so easily with and inspired others during hard times.

As a child, David’s angelic looks belied his draw to mischief. He was often in trouble, although it’s difficult now to remember his faults. People just couldn’t stay mad at him. His charismatic smile and infectious laugh helped him get away with far too much. David loved animals and would somehow coax lizards into being worn as earrings. He was creative and artistic with many talents left untapped.

David had a lot of energy and couldn’t abide with boredom. This led him to try different types of employment, his favorite of which was serving at Waldo’s. He enjoyed the atmosphere, the quick pace, and people. Blessed with natural athleticism and strength, David was an avid boxer and was often seen lifting weights and working pull-up bars. This had the added advantage of intimidating those he threatened with a broken nose should they dare mess with any of his sisters or daughters.

David was fun. He had a warmth and a light that shone from within. People connected to that easily and he made many friends as a result, all of whom will miss him greatly.

40 years was not nearly enough time with him. He is remembered lovingly by his daughters: Ciara, Breannan, and Adrianna McLaughlin; son: Liam McLaughlin; father: Glenn McLaughlin; mother: Diane McLaughlin; grandmother: Julia Ogonoski; brothers: James Ogonoski and Mark McLaughlin; sisters: Maeghan, Rebecca, and Julia McLaughlin; granddaughter: Adalyne McLaughlin, as well as many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
