Keith Tennant was a loving husband and a much beloved wrestling coach and university professor. He put together a winning wrestling team at the University of Florida in 1969 and coached until 1974. Keith had many academic accomplishments at 3 universities (UF, State University of West Georgia, and the University of Kansas) where he served as a professor and mentor to both graduate and undergraduate students and as an administrator at all 3 schools. However, Keith’s greatest achievement was his talent for listening to other people and touching their lives in such a unique and positive way. Keith was an amazing person as he had such passion for life and radiated warmth to everyone he met. He loved his students and he adored his wrestlers who he always said were his family. He was radiant, endearing, and had so much compassion for other people and so much integrity in everything he did during his life. He was funny, smart, and loved to play golf, racquetball, sailboard, water ski, snow ski, and of course wrestle. He was an exceptional human being who touched everyone’s life in a wonderful way through his gentle guidance and he was a man who led his life by positive example. It is easy to see how everyone had such a deep affection for Keith as he was such a beautiful and warm human being who had the golden touch. Keith passed away at the age of 80 on January 13th, 2023 after an extended illness. He leaves behind his loving wife and soulmate Laurie and his very large family of wrestlers which includes, but not limited to, Gary Schneider, Tim Granowitz, Ron Pinnell, Henry Jackson, Chet Sanders, Bob Roberts, Bob Penna, Nils Strandskov, Tim Worsowicz, Jeff Davis, Joe Russo, Mark Totten, Dave Rothman, Joe Ramos, Matt Bell, Kirk Anthony, Dean Tibbetts, Arthur Haberman, and Woody Krantz the student athletic trainer. We love and miss you Keith and you will remain forever in our hearts, our souls, and in our memories.

Laurie you covered all the bases with your love and admiration for an all round special soulmate.
He left such an indelible imprint on everyone he came in contact with.
I was fortunate to get to know him while you guys were in Lawrence.
We got to share fun times on the golf course.
We got to welcome you both into our family and I know that Sandy, Pat and Andrea have reached out to you through a most difficult period.
We’re all experiencing a deep and lasting loss.
We hope our love and caring for you from a distance will help strengthen you moving forward. Be strong and do good things as I know that is what Keith would want from you.
Lots of love my dear Laurie

Keith will be missed by all that knew him. I was fortunate to work with Keith for almost a decade at the University of Florida in the late 1980’s and 1990’s. RIP
