We met Marilyn and Lee on a trip to Jamaica in 1988 when my husband and I were in our mid 20s. We had so much fun with Marilyn and Lee, who were much older than us – in their early 50s at the time. We dressed up on “Costume Night” and taught Lee about Reggae and Bob Marley. We remember Bob dancing with all of us and having a great time. They were so much fun! We (and another couple) were the young kids and Marilyn and Lee (and another couple) were the “older couples” who knew how to party. We had a blast! We kept in touch all these years and exchanged Christmas cards through several changes of addresses, our marriage, and the birth of our twin girls. We remember when Marilyn lost her husband, Lee, and the beautiful tribute photo she sent of Lee and his horse. A few years ago, Marilyn sent us a picture from our trip in Jamaica. How young we all were! It brought back so many memories! We were so touched that she took the time to send us the photo of our much younger selves. Last year I didn’t receive a Christmas card and thought something might be wrong. While writing out my cards this year, I looked up Marilyn and was sad to see that she had passed away. Although we didn’t know her family, please know that your mom (and dad) were great people who knew how to have fun and made two young “kids” in their 20s have a memorable trip to Jamaica so many years ago in 1988. We will never forget Marilyn or Lee and the great time we had together. May she rest in peace and rejoice in being reunited with Lee.
