Carl William Ruppert passed away peacefully on December 28, 2022, at age 92 with his wife, Kathleen, at his side. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA. Upon graduating from high school, Carl served two years in the U.S. Navy. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received a degree in Accounting and began his career joining legacy Price Waterhouse accounting firm in 1954. In 1968, as a new partner, he moved his family to FL to open an office for the firm in Jacksonville, and later handled audit partner responsibilities in the Tampa office. He was transferred to the Washington, D. C. area in 1972 to be Partner in Charge, and later was the Managing Partner of the Greater D.C. area. Carl was highly regarded as a personable, client task driven, and meticulous leader who inspired smaller companies to grow their business to a long prosperous relationship. He particularly enjoyed mentoring junior staff and supporting local aspiring college students. The University of Virginia awarded him an honorary membership in the National Accounting Fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi. In 1990, he retired and moved to Florida. In 1993, his wife of 37 years Floretta Marie Pogel passed and two years later married Kathleen Maddox Frank.
Throughout his life, Carl quietly contributed many hours to civic and charitable organizations with the goal of leaving the world a better place. For several years, he was affiliated with various charities and private golf clubs in his resident area. He also served as a member and at times as treasurer on organizational boards and on audit and finance committees. In addition, he always found time to be an ambassador for golf and loved to play, whether a game for fun or competitively. He was so proud of his Hole in One and his Double Eagle at Burning Tree Club in Bethesda, MD. At his death, he was a member of the Moorings Yacht and Country Club, Vero Beach, FL. and was an Emeritus member with over forty years at Burning Tree Club.
In addition to his beloved wife, Kathy, he is survived by his daughter Jill (Holt) Trotman, his sons David and Paul (Wendy), three grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Deepest thanks to his longtime caregiver, Annetta Agnoli, who provided lots of love and devotion and has been a great blessing to the entire family.
There will be no memorial service. Instead, the family will have a private celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that you consider donations in Carl’s memory to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida, Inc., Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 97104, Washington, D.C. 20090-7104, or the VNA Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th LN., Vero Beach, FL 32960. Please note Carl’s name on your contribution.

Greatest memories were visiting you in Virginia. You were quite the entertainer and host. I will always remember your great smile and electric blue eyes sitting in your chair with your dog at your side and the smell of your cherry tobacco pipe………………. rest in peace and love to my dad and Aunt Flo! Aunt Kathy was a great find and the family loves her too.
Your niece, Betty
