Charles George Bernardi

July 13, 1939 ~ December 03, 2022

Charles George Bernardi, 83, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2022 surrounded by family, after a long battle with liver disease.  Retiring in the early 2000’s, Charles was enjoying spending time with family and friends.

Charles was born in Highland Park, Illinois in 1939 to Frank and Julia (Stefani) Bernardi. Charles went to Highland Park High School, where he met his sweetheart and love of his life of 66 years, Frances (Roof) and they married in 1959. Charles was the wonderful father of three beautiful children, David, Juli (David) and Patrica (Michael).  He was a proud Grandfather to Ryen & Lauren and cherished being a “Pampa” to Emily and Kayla; Great-Grandfather to Olivia and Eliana; Pet Grandpa to Riley, Nova and Callie.

Charles (Husband, Father, Grandfather,  Pampa and Mr. CB) was preceded in death by his Mother (Julia), Father (Frank), Brother (Henry), Uncle (Attilio Medici- aka Uncle PG) and is also survived by Brother-in-Laws (Kenneth + Harry Roof), Sister-in-Law (Cheryl Bernardi) and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Charlie enjoyed the sports of bowling, fishing, horse racing and for the past few years shooting pool again, with his friends at the clubhouse. He was the recipient of many Florida Senior Bowlers Champions and numerous Illinois bowling awards. Charlie was a devoted Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks fan. He was a fan of anything Earl Thomas Connelly and country music.

We are glad you are safe, pain free and reunited in heaven with all your family and friends. We will see you again someday with the Lord in Heaven.  Until then, goodbye and fly free with the angels. We know you will always be by our side.  We all love you.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that any donations made in Charlie’s honor go towards to your favorite charity or a local animal shelter.

Friends that would like to share a fond memory of Charles or leave condolences for his family may sign and online guestbook at www.millenniumcremationservice.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Millennium Cremation Service of Vero Beach.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
