Rachel Bollinger Palumbo

July 15, 1931

Rachel Bollinger Palumbo (July 15, 1931 – January 26, 2022)

Rachel embarked on a new adventure January 26, dropping her body and freeing herself of earthly torments while surrounded by her daughter, granddaughter and extended family of Harbor Chase.

Rachel loved being a grandmother and mother, reading countless Dr. Seuss stories to her progeny and always encouraging them to excel while being kind and strong. She also enjoyed working as an executive secretary (at General Electric, where she met Ronald Reagan!), a pathology assistant, seamstress, gardener, and designer clothing consultant. She delightedly traveled with family to New England, New Mexico, Washington DC, New York City and multiple beaches and gardens throughout the US. In her late eighties she reconnected with Cousins David Lee and Becky in Kentucky, followed by a move to sunny Florida. She lived a full life with husbands Fred and Jim; life was immeasurably enriched by her children Jeffrey and Barbara, granddaughter Freddie, son-in-law Henry and “step adults” Donna, Don, Jimmy, Debbie, Cinny and Leslie.

Sincere thanks are extended to her caregivers Terri and Jude, Harbor Chase and VNA Hospice Vero nursing staff. These kind folks became part of our family, humorously, lovingly and patiently easing her journey.

“Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

It’s opener, out there, in the wide open air.”

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
