John J “Buddy” Canny, 91 of Plympton, MA, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL.

John was born in South Boston, MA to Roger and Mary Canny. He has been a winter resident of Barefoot Bay for more than 20 years.

He was a graduate of South Boston High School and soon after enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict and also stationed in Japan.

John attended Friendship Christian Community Church, Sebastian, FL. He was also a member of the Irish Club, the Italian Club and the German Club of Barefoot Bay.

John retired from the United States Postal Service as supervisor after 30 years of faithful service.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn B Canny with whom he celebrated 35 years of marriage.

He is also survived by his son, John Canny, Jr. (Julie) of Lee New Hampshire and daughter, Jill Canny (Rob Last) of East Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren, Megan and Patrick Canny, Noah and Maura Last; greatgrandchildren, Ellen and James Canny; brother, William Canny of Nashua, New Hampshire; sisters, Patricia Donnell of Burlington, Massachussetts, and Anna Tedeschi (Paul) of South Boston, MA.; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by siblings, Catherine Richards, Mary Adams, Frances Coronity, Danny and James Canny.

I’m so sorry for your loss. We had a wonderful visit with Buddy this fall in Falmouth when Jimo was laid to rest! It was even on Buddy’s birthday! May warm, happy memories bring you peace! Peg’s cousin!

My heartfelt condolence to Carol, Jack, Jill and all of Buddy’s family and friends. I’m so sorry for your loss. He reminded me of that song, “When Irish Eyes are Smiling,” so I’ll always think of him laughing and remind myself to smile every chance I get.

Carol, so sorry for you & your families loss of Buddy. It was nice to see him at Peggy’s, he was so positive & always had a big smile. He’ll be smiling down on you from Heaven where he will be reunited with siblings.

Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
