Betty Mae Thomas, 84, of Vero Beach, Florida unexpectedly passed away February 21, 2025 with her family nearby.
Betty was born to Elenor Dickerson and Earl Spaulding on January 29, 1941 in Fairfax, Virginia. Betty worked as a Company Controller for a regional fabrication corporation and retired as a Staff Accountant for International Business Machines (IBM) in Boca Raton, Florida. Betty had a deep love for animals, fishing and gourmet cooking. When she wasn’t cooking an extraordinary dinner you would find her fishing inshore for freshwater Bass, with her son Kenneth Kuhn, or offshore for Tuna and Marlin with her Husband Frank Thomas at Ocean City, Maryland or coastal Florida.
Betty met and married her Husband Frank in 1976 and spent many years exploring new places and new countries and new experiences together; they bonded over many years and shared a passion for exploring new things ranging from Real Estate to owning and operating a ‘hands-on’ Grain and Poultry Farm.
She gave to many wildlife and canine charities and was an active member of the Vero Beach Methodist Church. During her lifetime she was a devoted beach enthusiast like no other, she and her husband Frank spent many, many hours between the beaches of Assateague Island Virginia, Rehobeth Beach Delaware and Boynton Beach and Vero Beach in Florida. Betty was a hard-working mother, exemplary housekeeper, a strong sister, a dedicated wife, and a spectacularly unique individual, leaving a lasting impression on anyone who happened to strike up a conversation with her.
Preceded in death by her Mother, Father and previous husband Donald Kuhn and her beloved Miniature Poodle Baxter.
