Floyd “Butch” Milton Davis, Jr.

December 17, 1943 ~ December 05, 2024

Floyd “Butch” Milton Davis Jr., of Fort White, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 5th, 2024 at 6:30 PM. Butch was 80 years old and staying with his family in Palm Bay, Florida. His daughter Vicki Davis, lives in Palm Bay along with her husband Timothy Snell and son, Tyler Davis. Butch was very comfortable spending time in Palm Bay, and it was a second home for him. As much as Butch loved visiting family and friends here in Palm Bay, he loved his home and property in Fort White, Florida where he lived since purchasing the 7+ acres in 1998. He loved having lots of room to collect cars and things. Butch could fix anything and was very handy. He was always helping someone with a project or repair.  He often offered friends in need support or a place to live. Butch had a big heart and would help whoever and wherever he could. He loved people and met them as and where they were. He was the most unjudgmental of people. He made the world a better place for all who loved and knew him.

Floyd or Butch as all his family and friends called him was born in Mesa Arizona, December 17, 1943, to Floyd Milton Davis Sr. and Marva Clement Davis (now deceased). Butch’s mother Marva said of Butch when she was alive, “He sure blessed our home and has been a good son.”

Butch married Joan E. Metcalf in Madison, WI in 1962. They had two children, David and Vicki Davis and shortly after moved to New York City for several years. There Butch worked for Airlift Internation, he had an opportunity to transfer with his family to Miami, FL. in 1965 and he took it. Joan wanted a better place to raise her kids, she said. They lived in south Florida until 1972. In 1972 the family moved to Gainesville, FL where Butch spent the rest of his life, working hard and living life to the fullest.

Butch is survived by sisters: Beverly Davis and Diana Davis; son, David Davis; daughter, Vicki Davis; and grandchildren: Tyler Davis, James Davis, and Austin Davis.

Butch was an uncle to Tina, Gordon, Josh, Tracey, Jacob and Mark. He had many cherished nieces and nephews. He loved to get down on the floor and play and wrestle with the kids. Butch’s sister Diana said he would tickle her to laughter when they were kids. He had many beloved friends he spent time with. He loved sports, watching football, cruising the seas and sharing stories.

Butch was a member of the Local Union 702 Carpenters Union in Gainesville, Florida since 1979 to 2024 (45 years). He supported and paid dues up until his final days. He believed strongly in supporting the union and the young carpenters in the area.

No service is scheduled currently. Butch would want to be remembered with a smile, a song from Marshel Tucker Band and wouldn’t mind if you tipped a beer in his honor thinking of a found memory of him. We all love you Butch, to the moon and back.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
