Roland J. Morin

November 01, 1937 ~ December 06, 2024

It is with great sadness the family of Roland Morin, husband of Carol (Cookie) Morin, announce his passing, which occurred December 6, 2024. He was born on November 1, 1937 in Grand-Falls, NB, Canada. He was the second eldest son of the late Ludger and Laurette Morin. He came from a family of 10 boys and 5 girls.

Roland did not have an easy life, leaving his home at age 15, he joined a couple of friends to go work for a construction company about 600 miles from home. In later years he married and moved to Connecticut. During his years in CT, he worked for construction companies like White Oak and O&G in Torrington. He worked as a Superintendent for O&G for 30 years, before retiring and moving to Florida.  Even today if you talked to any members of O&G’S family, they would tell you he was one of the Best employees, very honest, dedicated and loyal. Always went above and beyond! He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Retiree Club # 96.

While working in Ct,  as our big brother,  he welcomed  4 brothers and 2 sisters in his home as we first moved to the US, until each were able to find a job and make it on our own.  He taught each brother that moved in with him, the carpentry/ construction trade and in some cases hired them to work for him.

Roland has a very strong work ethic and being a hard worker he expected all his workers to work as hard as he did. Being a family member, working for Roland, meant to working harder than anyone else. He certainly did not play favoritism.

He and his brothers built many homes in CT during weekends and Holidays. He was always there along with family to help anyone who needed help.  Our family looked up to Roland, as for me, he was like a father.

Roland loved to fish, hunt and golf with family & friends . He loved to have a drink and party as hard as he worked.  I have to say he had a”Heart of Gold” .  He was a good man and a wonderful son,  brother, husband and father!

Roland leaves behind him his lovely wife Carol “Cookie”; 2 Daughters – Sylvia Olson (Rad); Dianne Hart (Suzanne); Son – Corey Morin (Jesse); Stepson – Dan Gardella (Denise); Stepdaughter- Beth Gardella; Stepson – Mitchell; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He also leaves 6 brothers: Pierre ( Madeleine); Clifford (Diane); Gaëtan (Alvine);  Guilman; Alfred (Laura) ; Onil (Denise) and 5 sisters: Charlene(Camille); Arlene (Valdor ) ; Verna Anne; Johanne (Camille) ; Deena (Jim) and many nieces and nephews.

Roland was predeceased by his parents Ludger & Laurette; Brothers – Rino, Louis, Joe; his Son – Maurice; Stepson – Chris Gardella; Brother in Law- Cap; Sisters in Law- Claudette, Jeanine.

We will not say “Goodbye” Roland!  We will celebrate your life every day with all the wonderful memories we have and We will miss you but will see you  again someday!

We Will Always Love You!

My sincere condolences for the entire Morin family and especially those very close to Roland, who knew him, loved him,and shared many wonderful lasting memories which we will all cherish. As a young daughter of Rino Morin,(Roland’s older brother),I have many joyful memories of our family trips to Connecticut.I was so so excited the entire time to visit and play with my loving cousins, chat just abit with my Uncle’s and Aunts as I was extremely shy then and stuttered.Roland was always very happy, hospitable, kind and welcomed us with open arms.He loved his whole family and loved having fun.I have beautiful fond memories of big family gatherings of my Aunts and Uncle’s always talking, laughing,so joyful and funny,I didn’t understand much french then but it didn’t matter,it warmed my heart,I knew and felt the love and kindness you all shared and spending time with my dear cousins was so fun.Roland’s dedicated work history amazes me,wow! and in saying that,I know all the Morin family were and are dedicated & hard working,a work ethic almost none-existent today.
My prayers and Big Warm Hugs to all of you,esp Roland’s immediate family ….Grieving & Parting with a loved one is a life-changing expierence. That I know firsthand.May God Bless you and watch over you and comfort you.
The Morin family is surely blessed to have such an immense wonderful family!

Our sincere condolences to all Roland’s family & friends. Roland & Irene & Sylvia arrived in Bristol in July of 1962. My 1st son was a newborn and we all went to Rockwell Park for a picnic. My Jeff was in a little wicker laundry basket !! I was so glad to welcome Irene, my cousin, to come live in CT. They were very close to my family for many years. Roland gladly helped us very often with his talents which was very appreciated. My 2nd son John was born 5 days after Maurice & they were great buddies. I will always remember doing the polka with Roland every time we went dancing !! Great memories of another era.
Grateful that we shared many great years together !! Loved all his family too. We even went to Pierre’s wedding together in Canada !! Sincere sympathy to all.♥️♥️

My deepest condolences to family and friends of Roland. While I have not spent much time with him in recent years, I have fond memories of my uncle Roland visiting our house in New Brunswick, and also when visiting in Connecticut.

He will surely be missed.

Uncle Roland was a gem! I have some of my earliest memories of him and Aunt Irene. Uncle Roland loved large and had a heart of gold. Many memories of bbqs at his house, always open for family and friends. Memories of going up to mom and Caps camp, family gatherings, to finally visiting him and Cookie every year in Florida. He will be missed. Much love to Cookie, Sylvia, Diane, and Corey. May the good memories be brighter than any others. Love to all my wonderful Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Morin Strong! RIP Uncle Rollie

My sincerest condolences to the family. To Sylvie, Diane and Corey, sending you all my love and strength. May you find peace and comfort in the memories you shared with your father. He was a pillar in our family. My parents always spoke fondly of him and how much he helped us when we first moved to Connecticut after the loss of the farm due to a fire. He blessed us greatly.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
