James Edward Gifford

March 17, 1950 ~ August 16, 2024

James E. Gifford, 74, died peacefully in hospice care surrounded by his family on August 16, 2024.

He was born March 17, 1950, in New London, CT and moved first to Cumberland, RI and finally to Sebastian, FL with his parents. While in RI, he was employed at St. Joseph Hospital in Providence. Thanks to his childhood friends, Peter and Bobby Farrelly, he appeared in the movie, “There’s Something About Mary” in which he asked Cameron Diaz to marry him. He really enjoyed his fifteen minutes of fame.

James is predeceased by his parents, Wallace and Victoria Gifford and his sister Pamela Joel and her husband Lee. He is survived by his brothers Thomas (Janis) Gifford, Charles (Janice) Gifford, sisters Sue (Phillip) LeLievre, Sally (Mark) Riedesel, and many nieces and nephews.

There is no service planned. Donations can be made in his memory to William Childs Hospice House Inpatient Facility, 381 Medplex Parkway, Palm Bay, FL 32905.

Arrangements are under the direction of Millennium cremation Service. Condolences may be shared online at www.millenniumcremationservice.com.

To Sue and all the Gifford’s,
I am sorry for the loss of Jimmy. He was such a nice guy and I always enjoyed talking with him when he would sit on the fence that was between your family’s house and ours on Metcalf Drive. Take pride in the fact that he lived a such a productive life and your whole family showed so much love and support. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Rest in sweet peace, Jimmy.
Sincere Condolences,
Barbara Gardner

My sincere condolences and prayers to Charlie, my old high school buddy, and the Gifford family. He was the part of the gang that watched the Boston Bruins in 1969/70 at Metcalf Drive. May God bless him and the Gifford family. He is with God and his angels and now he is an angel of the Gifford family.

  • The service from Millennium was outstanding. Rachel was sweet, personable and very comforting. It was important to me that my dad was kept locally where I knew where he would be. Very nice facility, state of the art and quality of my fathers remains were so refined compared to my mothers years ago. I highly recommend this place for an affordable choice for your loved one. Thank you for making an already stressful event easy. With high regards, the Esposito and Keith Family.

  • Millennium Cremation provided a fantastic service to our family at a difficult time. Our beloved mother passed away in Vero Beach and the rest of the family was in other parts of the country. Due to the Covid health crisis, none of us could get to Vero Beach in person. That's where Millennium took over. They helped us manage everything, coordinated with a cemetery in Maine, managed the obituaries, expedited all the paperwork, and even delivered an important document locally that saved us days. Funeral director Rachel was a godsend, and she made it clear what she was going to do, and what we needed to do. If you know what you want, Millennium is highly recommended, and the savings versus the full service mortuaries is significant.
