Helen E. Oates, formerly of Cheyenne, WY, passed away March 4, 2020 at her home in Sebastian, Florida.
Helen was born November 12, 1939 in Lusk, Wyoming to the late Howard H. and Lois V. Eikenberry.
Helen spent her life serving others through her various volunteer work as an EMT, Prison Chaplin, Big Fix Coordinator but her favorite work was with the VITA tax program. Mrs. Oates was a member of Crossroads Christian Fellowship in Sebastian.
She leaves her memories to be cherished by her children, Elizabeth (Nick) Lecher of Port St. Lucie, William (Sherry) Oates of Cheyenne & Barbara (Bo) Short of Sebastian; granddaughter, Taylor Oates of Cheyenne; grandsons, Seth Oates of Laramie, Derrick Ivey of Ft. Collins & Jackson (Madison) Ivey, South Hill, WA; brothers, William Eikenberry of Denver, Robert (Pat) Eikenberry of Wheatland and various nephews and a niece. She was predeceased by her husband, William John Oates, and twin brother, Howard (Linda) Eikenberry.
At the request of the family, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter www.cheyenneanimalshelter.org.

Loved Helen! We were neighbors with the Oates clan and all grew up together. She was always so welcoming to us and became a favorite friend mom! I am so sad for all of you. I am sure glad that she had such an amazing and long life! Something we can all hope for… sending love and light to all of you!

Aunt Helen was always a positive and enjoyable person loved by her husband, children and those whose lives she touched.
We have missed her presence in Wyoming, but pleased to know she was enjoying her daughters.
