Selma I. Luther, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on June 9th at the age of 94.
She was born in Rockmart, Georgia on July 16th, 1928 to Inez and John Morris, who moved to Vero Beach in 1934.
Selma was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Florene Brooks, her brother, Dwayne Morris, her husband, William M. (Bill) Luther, and her sons, Jim and Joe.
Survivors include her brother, Wayne Morris; children, John (Nancy), Jeff (Shelley), Jerre (Margie), and Jana Hogan (Mike); grandchildren, Kristin Lockwood (Darin), Lindsay Brandenburg (Jackson), Jennifer Langston, William Luther (Susie), Katie Benson (Kell), and Jenna Hogan, and eleven great grandchildren, Alice Grace, Emma, Will, Kase, Jorie, Jasper, Charlie, Grace, Evan, Liam, and Jackson.
Selma attended Vero Beach High School and married Bill shortly after he returned from the war in 1946. They were married for 63 years and raised six children together. Selma was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family and her faith.
She was a member of the Community Church and a generous and compassionate person who always helped those in need. Selma never met a stranger and made friends everywhere she went. She was a strong and resilient woman who faced challenge with grace and courage. She loved her family deeply and was always there for them.
In place of flowers, Selma would want everyone to do a special act of kindness and give to the charity of their choice.

This is a sad day to read of Selma’s passing. A fair share of memories flashed by. A lot of laughter, giggles in the salon where I worked, with Selma as a client. You will be missed a thousand times over. Please, to the Luther Family, accept my deepest condolences and prayers. I’ll be watching for a new Cardinal in my flock in the morning.
May God bless each of you, give you strength to get through the days ahead.

My deepest sympathies go out to the entire Luther family. She was a long time member of this community, a “Veroite”. Hold on to your special memories of this very nice lady. May she rest in peace.

I’m saddened to hear of Selma’s passing. She was a familiar face whenever I delivered at Regency. Often I would find her sitting with Jane near the elevators in the evening when I was making my rounds. She always had a story to tell and quite a few of them involved her daughter, Jana. May the family find peace during this difficult time.
